At the July 8, 2026, regular meeting of the Gualala Community Center (GCC), the Board of Directors passed a resolution to engage a Project Management Team consisting of a Project Manager, On-site Architect, Structural Engineer and a Financial Administrator. This team will oversee the GCC Rebuilding Project. Their initial and current work is focused on: Site Preparation, Preparing the Bid-Packet, Updating Projected Costs, and Fundraising. On Friday, July 10, the Project Management Team added Jim Rygh, Civil Engineer.

Project Manager, George Provencher is responsible for overseeing the successful completion of Gualala Community Center project and provides leadership to the project management team.

On-site Architect, Phil Roberts will ensure that the facilities and buildings, as constructed, are safe, sustainable, and meet the intended needs of the community.

Financial Administrator, Scott Matthews will assist in the development of the project budget, ensure that it is kept current, and that project financial records as produced are timely, accurate, and complete and he will interface with the Gualala Community Center accounting and financial reporting system.

Structural Engineer, Adrian Adams will provide technical oversight of the project and collaborate with other project management and team members to ensure the work complies with and corresponds with the plans, drawings, and specifications.

Civil Engineer, Jim Rygh will provide technical oversight of the project site preparation, grading plans and execution, and soil testing. The Civil Engineer collaborates with other project management team members to ensure the work complies with and corresponds with the plans, drawings, and specifications.

The GCC Board takes this opportunity to thank the original “Build Local” team for their thousands of hours of pro-bono work that have brought us to this point and who will continue to offer technical and logistics support.

Chris Beach-design, Adrian Adams-Structural Engineer, Jim Rygh-Civil Engineer, Bill Matthews-Facilities Manager, Susan Miletich-Landscape Designer, Rick O’Neil, Infrastructure, Annie Reis, Electrical Engineer and Michelle French, A/V Designer and Engineer.

Special thanks to Darla Buechner and the many GCC and community members who have helped us get to the starting gate; we thank all of them as well. As we move forward there will be opportunities for members of the community to contribute labor and materials and, of course, funding. Look for regular updates on the website: gualalacommunitycenter.org, and in the ICO.
